VW Shows

Volkswagen car shows are a lot of fun.  These are the ones I have attended.

Fall 2005
My first car show to attend was the Bugswarm.   I got to park beside Blue Smiley and we both won an award.   I don't know who was more excited me or Angie.  She is such a great mom for a bug like me.

This picture was taken in October 2005 at the Piney Woods VW Fall Fest.  As you can see it was before I had my retro wheel conversion done by Oak Hill Automotive.

She took me to the Piney Woods Fall Fest next and spent a lot of time that morning getting me ready to show off.  She had to work at the show as well so we were there with Blue Smiley and Jennifer really early.   Jennifer had bought me a neat coca-cola mat to lay in front of me with all of my display items and she let me use Blue Smiley's roof rack.   I felt so dressed up.   Then I heard that I won two awards, 2nd place for the stock New Beetles and best display (which was voted on by those who attended).  I felt so special.

Texas New Beetle Round Up 2006

This picture was taken by Antoine, Marvin's Dad.  Angie was attempting to remove some of the rain that had accumulated on me durring the show.   This was one of the few dry moments, and it didn't last for long.

I had a lot of fun when we went to Nacogdoches for the Bloomin Good VW Show.   Jennifer had me stop by a brick wall that was painted with a coca-cola advertisement.  It looked really cool.  Jennifer and Angie jumped out real fast and took a picture of me in front of it.  They are still working on the picture though.  As soon as I can I am putting it on my site.

At the show there were several old VW's and a few new ones.  It didn't take to long for Angie and Jennifer to set up my display.   Jennifer put my chrome rings on my wheels for the show.  I liked the way they look.   All the VWs looked great.   I couldn't wait to hear who won awards.

I could see everyone at the other end of the field sitting on bleachers and around the podium where the guy with a microphone was.   After leading several auctions that started the awards with the Water-cooled class, that is the one I was in.   He said that one of the VWs in this class would not get the top 5 award because they won a "Best of" award.  I could see Angie look over at Jennifer excitedly.   Then he began to call the names of the winners.  Soon he had called out all 4 and never mentioned my name.  For a second I was upset that I hadn't won a Top 5, but when I saw how Angie was excitedly bouncing in her seat and grinning at Jennifer, I rembered what he had said before.  I had won a "Best of" award.  Sure enough once he had announced almost every award mine was called out for "Best Water-Cooled."   I watched as Angie ran to the front to recieve the award and how Jennifer tried to hurry after her to take a picture.   I was so excited.   This was my 4th award to win.

I can't wait to show off the pictures from the show.   Jennifer still has them on her camera.  She tends to procrastinate when it comes to putting pictures on the internet.    :)

Fall 2007
I attended three shows this fall.  It was a lot of fun.  Jennifer spent a lot of time cleaning me up the day before each of them and it really paid off.  We brought home an award from each of them.

The first show I attended was the Bug Swarm in Dallas.  There wasn't very many Water-cooled that day, but we were judged against all in attendance for the top 50.  It was a nice day and I was excited to bring home a trophy.

The next show was the Texas New Beetle Rounup.  This year it was held in Flower Mound.  That was my first time to go there.  It looked like a nice city.  The square where the show was held had a nice charm to it.  However we were assaulted with rain the entire show.  It didn't stop until it was time to pack up.  The weather was probably one of the reasons for the low turn out this year, but I was still excited to see all the other New Beetles there. At the end of the day I received 2nd place in the Stock class.  I liked this award because it had a red NB on it.

The last show I was able to attend this year was the Piney Woods VW Fall Fest here in Longview.  Jennifer and Angie were up way before dawn getting my borther and I ready for showing.   They had a lot of work to do for running the show so they had to start off early on us.  We were later joined by Anna's new 2007 Creme Convertible.   I enjoyed getting to know her.  She had beat me the week before at the New Beetle Round Up.  This year I scored high enough from the judges to win the top Water Cooled prize.  My brother won his class (mod. NB) by default.  He was happy to get to dress up for a show.  It was the only one he attended this year.

Here are a few pictures from the show this fall:
